Dear Fellow Music Connoisseur,
I am writing to inform you of the release of 2
exceptional albums of music from Music Today :
1. Moonrise, Vol. 1, Pt. Vijay Raghav Rao, Live, Tabla
: Ustad Allah Rakha. 24 bit digital sound
2. Moonrise, Vol. 2, Pt. Vijay Raghav Rao, Live, Tabla
: Ustad Allah Rakha. 24 bit digital sound
I picked up these albums at www.indiaclub.com,
www.shrimatis.com and www.music-today.com.
The albums feature live performances in 3 American
cities by these two legends of Indian classical
music. The concerts in Los Angeles, New York and
San Francisco represent works of art that are
spontaneously created but once in a lifetime for the
intellectual pleasure of generations to come.
The four selections in the album represent Pandit
Vijay Raghav Rao’s genius through creative
masterpieces of improvisation that are at once
profound and shimmering in the colors of Raga and
Tala, imbued with the spirit of its ancient origins and
interpreted for the modern ear in the originality of a
complete artist. Exemplary collaborator that he was,
Ustad Allah Rakha enhances the value of our
experience with dignity, dexterity and exuberance.
The performances feature four Ragas from South
and North India, old and new, set to seven rhythmic
cycles - illustrating the breadth of the artists’
expertise. In their glorious synergy, the four
renditions represent the artists' vision of a moon on
the rise as twilight melts into night.
I highly recommend you listen to these albums and
share in the majesty of the best in Indian classical
music.
Regards
