Profile
Begum Akhtar's contemporary, Malika Pukhraj moved to Pakistan where she
continues to sing. Best known for her rendition of the
nazm 'Abhi to main jawaan hoon', Malika Pukhraj sang many ghazals
as well. Her voice, though reminiscent of Begum Akhtar's, was
marked by a simpler and lighter style, and won her many fans.
