Peenaz Masani is a popular ghazal singer, though not highly regarded by the purists, who beleived she looks better than she sings !

She was born into a musically inclined Parsi family. Her father Doly Masani studied music under such great legends as Ustad Faiyaz Khan and Ustad Latafat Hussain Khan. Thus Peenaz was trained in classical music from an early age under Amanat Hussain Khan.

Later on it was the famous Hindi film music director Jaidev who suggested that Peenaz take up ghazals seriously. Which she did by studying under Madhurani Faizabadi and Nizamuddin Gorekar.

Her first album was Aapki Bazm Mein released in 1984. Since then she has released several ghazal albums. She has also sung in several films and has even released some pop albums.
